About Us

Friends of Wildcat Canyon,

a community-based resource advocacy organization  founded in 1977 in Contra Costa County, California, has worked to acquire, restore, protect and promote the unique urban/wilderness watershed that is Wildcat Canyon, its creek and environs.  In 1980, with the help and leadership of State Senator John Nejedly, Congressman George Miller and many others we raised $1.6 million to acquire 162 acres of the Olmsted-listed “missing link” ridgeland parcels providing the vital connection necessary for the park district’s eventual acquisition of historic portal Alvarado Park in 1985.

We continue to advocate for responsible planning, stewardship and restoration of this unique Bay Area treasure for this and future generations to come.
